A Regina teen has been charged with manslaughter after an RCMP investigation into a suspicious death on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
The youth cannot be named in keeping with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, but RCMP identified the victim as 31-year-old Drew Jack, a member of the First Nation.
In a news release issued March 21, RCMP said the File Hills First Nations Police Service received a report of a sudden death on Carry the Kettle just before 3 a.m. that day.

But in a clarification provided March 24, RCMP said the initial call for service was a report of a medical emergency, not a sudden death.
“The victim died in hospital. Further investigation determined the death was suspicious in nature and Saskatchewan RCMP was notified,” stated a news release.
The youth was expected to appear in Regina provincial court the morning of March 24.
Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, located approximately 100 kilometres east of Regina, was the site of a quadruple homicide on Feb. 4 that resulted in two arrests. Police have not indicated any connection between the latest incident and the quadruple homicide.
