Plans to divide Grade II listed farmhouse near Oxford into two new homes

Manor Farmhouse is a Grade II listed building in the North Hinksey Conservation Area, which is believed to date back to the 18th century.
The unoccupied building in North Hinksey Lane would be given a single-storey extension and sub-divided into two homes with necessary alterations being carried out.
A single-storey kitchen or dining area would be added to the northeast side of the main farmhouse and a doorway will be put in place in what is the kitchen window.
The plans were submitted to Vale of White Horse District Council in December 2024, and a consultation was held between December 19 and January 30.

Botley and North Hinksey Parish Council expressed support for the application, and said it was “pleased to see the heritage asset is being preserved”.
The heritage officer for South and Vale councils said it could not support the application as it stands because there were elements of the application that would potentially lead to a loss of historic fixtures and fittings in the building.
The building is two-storeys high with an attic, and occupies a corner of the former farmyard.
Although it has been altered throughout the years, it retains several period features, including traditional fireplaces, window shutters and a bread oven.
One of the barns on the farmyard has been converted into a home, while other buildings are used for storage.
