Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham out for season with torn triceps
The Philadelphia Eagles lost a key piece of its top-ranked defence.
Defensive end Brandon Graham suffered a torn triceps Sunday and will be out for the rest of the season, he announced post-game.
Graham was everywhere Sunday night, registering a sack and living in the backfield before leaving with the injury. It’s a devastating loss not only because he is a leader on the team, but because there is speculation that the 15-year veteran — all 15 with the Eagles — plans to retire at the end of the season.
“The running back came and chipped me, right here on my arm,” Graham explained from his locker. “I’ve been dealing with my triceps anyways just from pushing people, get a little tendonitis. But this time it was different, it hit me, it stung a little longer.”
If this is truly it for the pass rusher, it was one great career.
With his sack Sunday, the 36-year-old Graham now has the third most sacks in team history with 76.5. A first-round pick in 2010, he’s the franchise leader in games played (206), made one Pro Bowl, was named team captain six times and is a Super Bowl champion.
“At the end of the day, it is what it is. No sense of crying about it,” Graham said. “Just got to know that I put everything into it. It hurt, but I’m telling you, I’m gonna be better from it.
“If I had to go out like this, I gave it everything I got.”
